Independence
- No advertising.
- No sponsorships.
- No affiliate links.
- No paid placements.
No filters here. This site is not affiliated with any local business, tourism group, private company, or community organization. The goal is to publish practical, experience-based information about local waterfront living - not brochure copy or paid placement.
How pages are written
Content is built from two inputs:
- Direct experience living in Muskegon-area waterfront communities.
- Primary sources when a claim depends on data (EPA, EGLE, USGS, NOAA, universities, municipal documents, and similar sources).
Sources and citations
When a page includes a specific number, date, regulation, tax detail, water-quality claim, or official status, the intent is to link directly to a primary source whenever practical.
If you spot a claim that should be sourced but isn’t, please email editor@muskegonwaterfront.com with the page URL and what you think needs support.
Photos and Copyright
Unless otherwise noted, photos on this site are original images taken around the Muskegon waterfront. They are used to show real local places, conditions, and context, and may not be copied, reused, or republished without permission.
Updates and corrections
Waterfront conditions change - dredging, water levels, ordinances, policies, and even public data. If something is outdated or incorrect, it will be corrected.
Corrections are easiest when you include:
- The exact page URL
- The sentence or section in question
- A reliable source, or enough detail to locate one
